Week 25 in Kindergarten and Valentine's Day

In science, we are continuing to learn about winter, We have learned about how we protect ourselves in winter and now we are learning about how animals protect themselves. We have learned how animals hibernate, adapt and migrate. We did a great experiment to learn how blubber helps animals in cold climates. First, we tested by putting our fingers in a bucket of ice water. Some decided to dunk their whole hands. After using bare hands, we put on gloves to see if it made a difference. Some of the kids felt as though gloves helped, but only for a little bit.

Next, we tested our hands in "blubber." We used shortening in ziploc bags. The kids discovered how much blubber helps animals in cold climates.

The kids also had great fun with our Valentine's Day celebration. We made adorable Valentine monster bags and exchanged Valentine cards.

A HUGE thank you to our amazing PTA for providing delicious ice cream sundaes. Yummy!!!
