Week 26 and 27 in Kindergarten

In math we have been hard at work learning about numbers from 0-100. One of our goals is to count on from a given number. We dropped two counters on a 100 chart. Then, we counted from the smaller number to the larger number. We are doing so great with our counting!

We have also played a trading game with base ten blocks to learn how to trade a group on ones for one set of ten.

In reading, we have been learning about the difference between fiction and non-fiction texts. We used old book orders to sort both types of books.

In social studies, we have been learning about George Washington, Abraham Lincoln and Barack Obama.

We read Duck for President and voted for who we thought should be in charge, the duck or the farmer.
We talked about what we would do if we were the President and made fun patriotic headbands.

In writing, we have started our research project. Each student has selected an animal to research. They need to read through various text resources as well as various online sites to find out the habitat, diet and other fun facts about their animal. They will then take their research notes to write a book about their selected animals.
