Can you believe we have been in school for 100 days? So much has happened, and the children have grown so very much. I can't wait to see what the next few months bring. The 100th day symbolizes so much for the kids. We have been counting the days of school each day, learning numbers, how to represent and compare them and gaining number sense. The 100th day is a day for us to celebrate all we know and what amazing mathematicians we are becoming.
They entered the room through a decorated door announcing they were 100 days smarter!
We started by making necklaces out of 100 Fruit Loops. The children sorted colors into groups of 10 and once completed, counted them by ones and tens. Of course, eating them for snack was quite yummy!!
We did a lesson on probability. The students flipped a coin 100 times to see which we would land or more- heads or tails. Many were unable to finish, so if it came on Friday, feel free to finish the game with them.
We played a mystery pictures game. The students colored only the designated numbers to determine the mystery picture.
We made 100th day crowns and worked on counting to 100 with Zero the Hero and his sister Zerona.
We worked to build designs with 100 pattern blocks.
We counted cubes into groups of ten and then made a row of 100. Then we determined if we were longer, shorter or the same as 100 cubes.
Our very favorite was designing a tower/building with 100 cups. This was so much fun and I enjoyed seeing how the kids tackled their towers.
We worked to complete a 100 piece puzzle. Each group spent time working on the puzzle until it was complete. We have some great puzzle pros in our room. We were excited that Ms. Huezo was able to join us for our 100th day celebration!
One game we played was a race to 100. We rolled a number cube and colored the correct number of squares. The goal was to reach 100 prior to our partner and to see how many rolls it would take.
We wrote about what we would do if we had $100 and what we thought we could eat 100 of and made a fun class book.
What a fun, math filled day. We are now 100 days smarter!!
