Farm Time!

Our class had the opportunity to visit Drumm Farm. We visited various stations throughout the day and learned about life on the farm.

We started with a story time where we learned about various animals on the farm, sounds they made and how they were helpful to us. We even got to write about our favorite farm animal.

Our next station was a nature walk. Each student was given a paper with things to look for while on the walk. We had so much fun observing and discussing things in nature.

On the farm, we also enjoyed learning about the life cycle of a chicken. We were able to see fresh eggs, a mother hen and some baby chicks. Those that wanted to, could touch the baby chicks.

One of our favorite stops on the farm was where we learned all about making cider. We even got to taste some. Yummy!

The students had the opportunity to feed goats. They were to keep a cup of goat feed on their heads and then put a bit in their hand to feed the goat. I tried to get as pictures as of many kids as I could feeding the goats, but they were so excited to feed them, they were running around quick. I don't know which kids were cuter. :)

Our final stop before lunch was learning about the life cycle of a pumpkin and getting to pick our very own pumpkins.

Time for lunch! Yum!!

What a fun day! Make sure to check out next week's post when we share our pumpkin investigations and writings.
