October 19, 2015

This has been a busy week with working on our portfolios and data folders in order to prepare for conferences. I am looking forward to sitting down with each family to share progress so far this school year. When you come to conferences, we will review your child's data folder. The data folder is a way for your child and me to track progress on specific skills and to set goals.

We will also review your child's portfolio. The portfolio is a way to collect similar work samples throughout the school year.

At conferences you will also receive some resources to help your child practice at home. Included will be a sight word folder. This will allow your child to work at his/her own pace on the sight words in order to meet the kindergarten goal of 45 or even work on the first grade words!

In math we started working on a set of number cards. There are cards from 0-10 with the numbers, number words or pictures to represent each number. The students are working on sorting the cards and putting them into numerical order. They loved working with their partners to sort the cards.
