This week we kicked off our first Jolly Phonics Unit. Each of the 7 units has 6 sounds. With each sound we have a story, song and action. Your child will be bringing home a small book of sounds to practice.
Our first sounds were /s/, /a/, /t/, /i/, /p/. We will do /n/ on Monday and Tuesday will be a day for review before we begin the next unit.
We are also working on our popcorn words. Your child should be able to read the words: blue, and, yellow, red. This week, we will work on the following words: green, a

After we have learned the words, they are added to our word wall as a daily resource during reading and writing.

This week we also started our reading stations. Our station activities are in buckets the students can take to their desk. We have alphabet activities, word work activities, popcorn word activities and more.
