Week 7 in Kindergarten

We have had so much fun learning our color words. We read many great color stories and have sung songs for each color. This week we made rainbow clouds and had to match the color word to the color strip.

This week we also learned about primary and secondary colors. After reading a book called Mouse Paint, we learned how to mix colors and we painted mice red, orange, yellow, green, blue and purple. So fun!

In Jolly Phonics, we have already learned many sounds and are working to build words with those sounds.

In reading, we have just learned how to take care of our very own book boxes. We learned what belongs in our book box. We need to include 5 passion books. These are books about which we are passionate. They might be our favorite read-alouds, favorite non-fiction books or favorite character books. We also need to include 5 just right books. These are leveled text that we will practice to help us become the best readers we can be. We also have a poetry notebook that includes copies of songs and poems shared in class.

When reading, we are learning how to read the pictures to learn about the story and to read the words. Soon we will learn how to retell the story.

And in conclusion, Go Royals!!!
